Terms & Conditions

Last updated: July 2026

These terms apply to quotes provided by, bookings made with, and work performed by Melb Plumbing Services. Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any consumer guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law (Schedule 2 of the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth)) or any other law that cannot be excluded.

1. Quotes

Quotes are free and no-obligation, and remain valid for 30 days unless otherwise stated. A quote covers the scope of work described in it. If additional work or unforeseen conditions are discovered on site: for example, concealed pipe damage. We will explain the situation, provide a price for the additional work, and obtain your approval before proceeding. No surprise extras.

2. Emergency call-outs

Our 24/7 emergency service attracts a call-out fee outside standard hours. The fee and expected charges are communicated clearly on the phone before a plumber is dispatched, so you can make an informed decision.

3. Licensing and compliance

All work is carried out by plumbers licensed or registered with the Victorian Building Authority, and completed in accordance with the Plumbing Regulations 2018 (Vic) and applicable Australian Standards, including AS/NZS 3500. A compliance certificate is issued for all work over $750 and for any work that requires certification: such as gas, drainage and hot water installations, as required by Victorian law.

4. Workmanship guarantee

In addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law, we guarantee our workmanship: if a fault arises from our work, tell us and we will return and put it right at no charge. Manufacturer warranties apply to supplied products, and we will assist you with any manufacturer warranty claim for products we supplied.

5. Access and site safety

You agree to provide safe and reasonable access to the work area at the agreed time. If access is not available and work cannot proceed, a reasonable attendance fee may apply.

6. Payment

Payment is due on completion of the work unless we have agreed otherwise in writing: for example, staged payments on renovation projects. We accept common payment methods, and invoices state the amount, the work performed and our details.

7. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for pre-existing defects in your plumbing systems, or for damage caused by conditions we could not reasonably have detected. Where liability cannot be excluded but can be limited, our liability is limited to re-supplying the services or paying the cost of re-supply.

8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia. Any dispute will first be addressed in good-faith discussion. You can also contact Consumer Affairs Victoria for independent guidance on your rights.
