Plumbing in Melbourne CBD
Almost all plumbing work in the CBD happens inside multi-storey buildings, and that changes the job completely. Water arrives through pressurised risers shared by dozens of apartments or tenancies, so a fault in one unit is rarely contained to that unit, and isolating it usually means finding the correct floor valve rather than a tap under the sink.
We spend a lot of CBD jobs on high-rise apartment bathrooms and kitchens where the pipework is boxed into shafts with limited access, on commercial kitchens in ground-floor hospitality tenancies, and on the flexible braided hoses that cause most of the CBD's serious water-damage claims when they burst.
Building access is the other half of the work here. Most towers require booking through building management, loading-dock access and after-hours work for anything disruptive, so we plan around it rather than turning up and hoping.
