Plumbing in Brunswick
Brunswick's housing is mostly late-Victorian and Edwardian cottages, interwar brick homes and a growing number of new apartment developments along Sydney Road and the Upfield line. The older stock is where most of our work is, and it is old enough that original materials are now genuinely at end of life.
Two things dominate. First, the mature street trees Brunswick is known for sit directly above original clay sewer lines, and roots find the joints: recurring blockages here are usually a pipe condition problem, not a usage problem. Second, many homes still run galvanised supply pipe that has corroded internally, producing weak pressure and rusty water that no amount of tap servicing will fix.
Brunswick also has a lot of extended and renovated houses where a newer rear kitchen or bathroom was connected into old drainage, creating a bottleneck that only shows up under load.
