Plumbing in Heidelberg
Heidelberg combines established period homes, substantial post-war housing and a significant medical and commercial precinct around the hospitals, which makes the work here unusually varied.
Residentially, much of the housing sits on undulating land near the Yarra flats, and the older homes carry the drainage issues typical of their age, clay sewer lines with root intrusion and stormwater systems that predate current rainfall expectations. Properties closer to the river flats can also see groundwater and surface water behaviour that homes on higher ground never experience.
The commercial and medical precinct brings a very different class of work: amenities serving high volumes of people, backflow prevention requirements, and maintenance that has to be scheduled around operating hours and continuity of service.
Many Heidelberg homes are also of the era and calibre where full bathroom renovations are common, which is a large part of what we do here.
